Our Statement of Faith
Reconciliation
-
To reconcile families and relationships within the community
-
We believe that Almighty God is the Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen (Genesis 1:1). We believe He exists in three persons, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who are fully and equally God and exist in a complementary relationship under the headship of the Father. (1 Cor. 8:6, 2 Cor. 13:14, Isaiah 9:6)
-
We believe God the Father sent Jesus, His only Son, to accomplish His redemptive purposes, and He commissioned God the Holy Spirit to come to us. We believe the sovereign Father is actively ruling over all things, that He never changes, is full of love and mercy for us, cares deeply for the poor and performs justice on the earth. From Heaven, where He dwells, He hears our prayers and gives good gifts. He is the perfect, faithful Father and can be trusted at all times. (1 Cor. 8:6, Ps. 68:5, Eph. 1:3, James 1:17, Isaiah 63:16, 2 Cor. 1:3-4)
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is God's only Son and was sent by God to pay the price for the sins of mankind by dying on the cross. We believe He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and is now with God. We believe He will return to us again. Only through belief in Him can we come back into a true relationship with God and have eternal life with Him. (John 14:6, Phil. 2:5-11, Col. 1:15-23).
-
We believe God has given the Holy Spirit to believers and to the church to empower us to serve and love, and also to receive more revelation about God, the church and the world. We believe that regularly encountering the Spirit of God is essential to the Christian walk, indeed we are called to live and walk by the Spirit. We believe the church must be a place of His Spirit and Word working in partnership, and our gatherings should reflect this. (Acts 1:8, John 16:7-15, 2 Cor. 3:17, Gal. 5:16, 25).
-
We believe that salvation from eternal death is a gift from God to the world. People can never make up for their sins by self-improvement or good works – only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness, can a person be saved from eternal death. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). We believe that because God gives a person eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is given by the grace of God and maintained by the power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian (1 Peter 1:3-5).

We believe in the infallible and inspired written word of God - the Bible. God’s written word has supreme authority in all matters of doctrine and faith, and also over the spoken word (prophecy, wisdom, advice etc). God’s written word is meant to be preached. We also believe God does speak to us in many other ways, including prophecy. We believe the Holy Spirit’s role in the proclamation of the Word of God is essential, and that this should be apparent in the church. (Heb. 4:12, Matt. 4:4, Psalm 12:6, Psalm 119, 2 Tim. 3:15-17)
